Brendan Kirkpatrick

Brendan Kirkpatrick is a Lieutenant with the Bell Gardens Police Department. He has 20 years of Law Enforcement experience and spent 8 of them as an Economics Crime Detective. During that time, he investigated hundreds of fraud and related cases and implemented a mandatory thumbprint program for all businesses that accepted checks as currency.

While a detective and when fraud and identity theft crimes surged, he realized that many line level patrol officers were poorly equipped to handle these types of calls for service. In 2005, he created a POST certified Plan IV, 8 hour fraud class to better aid patrol officers and investigators. This class has been taught throughout Southern California and also to specific agencies. He has years of experience with Economic crimes and has dedicated many hours fighting these types of crimes.

Lieutenant Kirkpatrick has overseen Patrol, Dispatch, and Records, and is currently the supervising Lieutenant for the General Investigations Unit. He is keenly aware that fraud will always be part of police work and wants to ensure that officers are ready to investigate these types of reports. To this day, he still receives calls from former students and has assisted in other agency investigations and direction.
