Detective John Hong, has been a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) since May 1996.He has worked a variety of patrol assignments in Wilshire, Central and Pacific Division.In 1999, John was assigned to plainclothes undercover details in Vice and Narcotics units and was promoted to Detective in 2003. John was assigned to the Gang & Narcotics Division (GND), Major Enforcement Section, LAB SQUAD.

John was reassigned to the L.A IMPACT taskforce, lab response team since 2005.During the last 15 years, he learned and observed many methods and trends of manufacturing.John’s primary duty was to investigate and/or to respond to illicit drug labs discovered by other officers, document and collect evidence, and prepare for criminal filing if suspects are apprehended. He is a member of the Clandestine Laboratory Investigators Association (CLIA) and CNOA and has testified in Superior and Federal Court as an expert in illegal drug manufacturing of BHO, THC extraction, meth, PCP, GHB, and Fentanyl.John is a department and court certified Korean and Spanish language speaker and translator.
